West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi has claimed that law enforcement targeted his bursary programme over his allegiance to DP Ruto.

West Mugirango Member of Parliament Vincent Kemosi was yesterday, May 9, 2021, interrupted by police officers and county administrators while he launched the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) bursaries disbursement programme.

The legislator has since alleged that his affiliation with Deputy President William Ruto is the reason he was 'targeted'.

While addressing journalists from his residence, Kemosi stated that the cancellation of his bursary event that was to be held at Rangenyo Primary school playground in Nyamaiya Ward, is a witch hunt for his support of DP Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

He claimed that the police barred him and his people from holding the event despite observing all the laid out Covid-19 protocols, while fellow legislators from the same county held meetings freely.

"The turn of events had nothing to do with coronavirus pandemic prevention but pure witch-hunt and everyone can clearly see that I am being sabotaged because of my strong support of DP’s presidential ambitions. I have seen other MPs hold public gatherings across Nyamira but it is viewed as a crime if I hold one in a bid to help our children with school fees,” Kemosi stated.

“The DCC told me that I should be granted permission from the Interior Cabinet Secretary, Dr Fred Matiang’i before planning to hold any public event, an order which I see implemented with a lot of partiality,” He noted.

Nyamira South Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Julius Otieno on his part, stated that the government is determined to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country, adding that all political gatherings are prohibited in the county.

Over 6,000 students in both secondary schools and higher institutions are set to benefit from the Ksh34 million fund after Kemosi proceeded to launch it at West Mugirango Constituency CDF hall..
