Former Citizen TV News anchor Hussein Mohamed has been appointed as Head of Communications in DP William Ruto's presidential campaign team.

DP Ruto made the announcement via social media platforms on Monday, January 24, 2022. 

"Hussein Mohamed, renowned TV journalist, has been appointed Head of Communications in the William Ruto Presidential Campaign," the DP said. 

The former Citizen TV anchor will now be in charge of Ruto's presidential campaigns communications ahead of the August 9, elections.


Hussein resigned from Royal Media Services (RMS) in October 2019 after ten years. 

"It has been a wonderful 10 years at Citizen TV. I have enjoyed & relished every moment I shared with my colleagues at RMS.

"I have decided to take a break after October In Sha Allah to concentrate on other matters. Loved the fans, the critics & everything in between. See you soon," he posted back then on his Twitter handle. 

Since then he has been working as a communications consultant for NGOs.
