The senator's reaction comes after Azimio women endorsed Martha Karua for the running position in Raila Odinga's camp.

Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has sent social media into a frenzy after endorsing Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru for a running mate position in the upcoming presidential polls.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the lawmaker posted the front page of a local daily that had a headline that sought to inquire about the chances of Waiguru and Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua becoming running mates.

The ardent Deputy President William Ruto supporter captioned the post: "H.E @AnneWiguru it is!"

The tweet attracted a lot of mixed reactions from netizens who weighed in with their views regarding the senator's gesture.

A section of the netizens seemed not to agree with Ms. Omanga while others said Ms. Karua stood a good chance of becoming the next Deputy President.

Below are a few reactions captured by Nairobileo.co.ke.

The remarks by Ms. Omanga come after the Azimio Women Movement on Monday endorsed Ms. Karua for the running mate position in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party.

In a press briefing made by Rachael Shebesh, CAS Ministry of Public Service and Gender Programmes, the women maintained that the former presidential candidate is a committed woman who is known for her integrity.

They said that Karua will not only add to the value of Raila's presidency but also give women the hope of believing that they can be leaders at the level of a deputy president.
