A widely shared letter indicated that Keynan had opted to resign due to communal hostilities in his constituency.

Adan Keynan has not resigned as Eldas member of parliament as claimed.

A widely shared pamphlet indicated that the lawmaker had opted to resign due to the continued communal hostilities in his area.

Further, it was said that the lawmaker decided to give up his seat due to alleged deteriorating health.

"The decision (to resign) has been necessitated by continued hostilities among different clans in my constituency.  Request from the elders and my deteriorating health. These factors put together have made discharging my duties tedious and involving which requires more energy, agility, and movement," partly reads the alleged resignation notice addressed to the Speaker of the National Assembly.

The letter would a little later be flagged as fake by the lawmaker's team.

In the recent past, Keynan has not indicated any plans to resign due to the mentioned factors.

In his latest tweet, the lawmaker congratulated Dekow Barrow for overwhelmingly winning the Garissa Township MP seat in the just concluded by-election.


Keynan has been in the August House for a long time.

He represented Wajir West in the National Assembly from 1997 to 2002, and then from 2007 to 2013.

He then moved to Eldas constituency which was curved from Wajir West.
