The Kenya Power and Lightning Company has announced a power blackout in several Nairobi Areas.

KPLC in a notice said the expected outages were occasioned by scheduled maintenance.

Nairobi areas to be affected will lack electricity from 9am to 5pm.

Top of the list of areas to be affected in Nairobi is Joska Feeder Region.

The following areas will be affected in the Joska region: Ruai Shopping Center, Ruai Police, Ruai DC, Githunguri, Block 10, Makongeni, Stage 26, Twin Bird, and Kipawa.

Others are Made in the Streets, Kingoris, Kamulu, Reflector, Brookshire, Ngond and adjacent customers.

Mirema Estate in Nairobi will also be affected by the blackouts.

The specific area to be affected in Mirema Estate are Mirema Drive, Burberry Hotel, Ponty Pridd Holdings Limited, Mirema Spring Estate.

KPLC also announced power blackout in Kiambu and Homa Bay Counties

The affected areas in Kiambu are St Anne’s Lioki, Karia Market, Todas Bar, Waironjo, Ngurunga Farm, Kifisha Farm, Kirigiti, Riabai, Mboi Kamiti, Migaa Estate,  Nyara, Kanjimbi, Marion School, Shawazi and Gulmerg.

In Homa Bay County, residents of Mbita, Rusinga Island, and Waondo areas won't have power for hours.

The blackout in the two counties will also begin at 9am to 5pm.
