The couple is said to have had a disagreement over the loan during the meeting leading to them spending the night in separate rooms.

A businessman who allegedly unsuccessfully borrowed Sh2 billion from his wife was Monday morning found dead at his house in Karen.

Francis Kiambi was discovered dead by his wife Mary Muthoni in the wee hours of Monday morning, a police statement indicates.

Kiambi vied for Tharaka Nithi senatorial seat in the 2017 elections.

Muthoni, after the discovery, reported the matter at the Karen police station.

“The couple had some domestic differences since the reportee had refused to guarantee the deceased a loan of Sh2 billion which he intended to take to open a business,” the police said in their report.

The police report further says the couple came home along Ndege Road in Karen on Sunday at around 1 am after having a meeting and drinks with a family advocate and his relative at a nearby restaurant.

The couple is said to have had a disagreement over the loan during the meeting leading to them spending the night in separate rooms.

“They each spent the night in different rooms and the deceased never woke up since then but could be heard snoring throughout the day and night and had vomited in his bedroom.

“It was until today (Monday) at around 0600hrs when she went to check on the deceased and she found him lying dead on his bed with some vomit beside the bed,” the police said.

A doctor who was called in from the Karen Hospital at around 6 am confirmed the death at around 9 am.

The remains were moved to the Lee Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy.

“The scene was visited by the police and processed. The body had no visible injuries,” police said.
