Miguna Miguna on Saturday met with President William Ruto at the Kisumu State Lodge.

Lawyer Miguna Miguna has revealed that President William Ruto issued him an apology for his deportation to Canada in 2018.

In a statement on Saturday, January 14, Miguna accepted the apology from the Head of State and the government.

"President William Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander In Chief of the Defence Forces, earlier this morning apologized to me on his behalf and on behalf of the Government for the brutality inflicted upon me by the previous regime. I accept the apology," he said.

Miguna was deported in March 2018 after taking part in ODM leader Raila Odinga’s unofficial swearing-in as the ‘Peoples President’ at Uhuru Park.

He was allowed to come back on October 20, 2022, after the Ruto government issued him with a new passport, lifted red alerts that had been imposed on him, and facilitated his return.

"The government of William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua has lifted the Red Alerts Uhuru Kenyatta illegally imposed against me with the connivance of Raila Odinga," Miguna stated on October 12, 2022.

Before his return, the vocal lawyer was at loggerheads with retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government over his citizenship.
