This comes days after Maraga was sworn-in as the Chairperson of the taskforce reviewing police welfare.

Former Chief Justice David Maraga on Monday, January 16, paid a courtesy call to the Inspector General of police Japhet Koome. 

This comes days after Maraga was sworn-in as the Chairperson of the taskforce reviewing police welfare.

In an update by the National Police Service (NPS), Kooome and Maraga agreed to cooperate in the collection of views from police officers on the ground.  

"The two leaders agreed on the support and mutual cooperation expected from both sides to facilitate in the collection of views from NPS Officers on the ground," NPS tweeted.

The former Chief Justice is leading the National Taskforce on Improvement of the Terms and Conditions of Service and other Reforms for Members of NPS and Prison Service. The team comprises twenty members. 

“I will not re-invent the will, I will harmonise existing reforms,” Maraga said while he was being sworn in. The event was presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome.
