The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i over an alleged raid at his Karen home two weeks ago.

According to a statement issued on Thursday, February 23, by Senior Superintendent of Police Michael Sang, the former CS will assist the DCI in its investigations on allegations of false information contrary to Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act 2018.

Matiang’i has been compelled to appear at the DCI headquarters on Friday, February 24, 2023, without fail.

“I have reasons to believe that you, Dr. Fred Matiangi, the former Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Interior and National Co-ordination, is connected to the offence or has information which can assist me in my investigations,” the summon reads.

This comes hours after a Nairobi High Court suspended the DCI’s orders requiring Matiangís lawyer Danstan Omari to appear before them for a probe over allegations that police raided the home of the former CS.

The lawyer was to appear at the DCI headquarters today, Thursday, February 23.

He initially to appear on Wednesday, February 22 but it was pushed to Thursday after he said he had to attend numerous court cases.
