Matiang'i was summoned to appear at the DCI Friday morning at 9:30 am without fail.

Former Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Fred Matiang'i won't appear before the DCI detective this Friday, Nairobi Leo has learned.

Speaking to Nairobi Leo, Matiang'i's lawyer Danstan Omari denied receiving any summon requiring his client to avail himself at the DCI headquarters.

The lawyer said they learnt of reports about his summon on social media and none has been served to this date.

"The law is very clear about how the summon needs to be served. My client has not received any summon from the DCI until this moment.  There was no need to respond to something that is not existing," Omari stated.

Matiang'i was summoned to appear at the DCI Friday morning at 9:30 am without fail.

Detective Michael Sang was to face the former CS and interrogate him on an alleged police raid at his Karen home.

"I have reasons to believe that you, Dr Fred Matiang'i, the former Cabinet secretary, Ministry of Interior and National Co-ordination, are connected to the offence or have information which can assist me in my investigations," Sang said.

The summon came even as the court on Thursday extended orders barring the arrest of the former CS.

The conservatory orders which were to end on Thursday will now run until April 19 when the matter will come up for mention.

The bone of contention revolves around the alleged raid in which police denied involvement and said they sought a court order to obtain CCTV footage from Matiang'i's home.

The officers broke into his residence on February 15, ransacked the house, and left.
