Malala will be quiting Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC party to join the ruling party UDA.

Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala is set to be announced as the new UDA secretary general, Nairobi Leo has learnt.

Malala will take over from nominated Senator Veronica Maina.

A source within the party told Nairobi Leo that Malala is likely to be named the party SG today, Monday, February 27.

The source said the appointment is a done deal and that what is remaining is announcement.

Confirming Nairobi Leo source, the UDA party has already sent invitation for a press conference this Monday.

"United Democratic Alliance National Executive Committee will this afternoon 27th February 2023, hold a Press confrence at the Party Headquarters Time 3.30pm Venue Hustler Plaza, Ngong road," the press invite.

It is at the press conference that Malala is expected to be unveiled.

His naming as the ruling outfit SG is set to scuttle his chances of being a CAS considering that one cannot serve a political party and the at the same time be in office.

Malala who vied for the Kakamega Governor seat on a ANC party also served as the party's County chairman.

His exit now leaves ANC in difficult situation considering that he was one of the formidable le politicians who worked closely with former party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

Mudavadi had to relinquish his position as party leader to join Cabinet.
