The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Homicide detectives investigating the death of Geoffrey Mwathi Ngugi aka Jeff that occurred on February 22, 2023, have concluded the 1st phase of their investigations.

In a statement to newsrooms on Friday, March 17, DCI said that the first phase included interviewing the first cluster of witnesses in the case, forensic examination of the scene, and retrieval of CCTV footage that captured the deceased's last moments.

Several other Forensic experts based at the DCI National Forensic Laboratory who are augmenting the Homicide team have equally collected crucial evidence and the same is being analyzed scientifically.

"We are now progressing to the second phase of the investigations where several persons of interest in the case will be interrogated and appropriate recommendations made before being forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for action," DCI said. 

In the February 22 incident, Mwathi who was an interior designer was captured on CCTV footage falling from the 10th-floor apartment window of the house belonging to DJ Fatxo.

Mwathi had been in DJ Faxto's house after spending the night partying with the popular Mugithi singer alongside his cousin and driver. 

Later, DJ Faxto would issue a statement saying he was the one who reported Mwathi missing at Kasarani police station.
