The two buses belonged to Trinity Academy and Kutus Municipality primary schools in Kirinyaga County.

A grisly road accident involving two buses left one person dead and 8 students injured. 

The accident occurred along the Baricho-Kagio road in Kirinyaga County.

Ndia Police boss Moses Koskei confirmed the incident. 

He said the two buses belonged to Trinity Academy and Kutus Municipality primary schools.

The police boss said the busses were in their normal morning routine of transporting pupils to their respective schools before the accident occurred at 6:30 am.

Wreckage of the school bus that was involved in the accident.

He said the buses crashed head-on as one of the buses was driving towards a different route, off the main road while the other was passing by the main road thus resulting in the accident.

The police boss said one passenger in the Kutus Municipality school bus died on the spot while the others 8 pupils and one teacher in the Trinity primary school bus sustained injuries.

He said that the teacher's limbs were fractured as a result of the accident. 

The injured were rushed to Kerugoya level four hospital where they have been receiving treatment since morning.
