President William Ruto has nominated former Uasin Gishu Senator Isaac Melly as a commissioner at the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC). 

The nomination was announced by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula on Tuesday, April 17 who noted that the Head of State sought the August House to approve the former senator.

If approved by the MPs, Melly will represent the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) at SRC.

“I wish to convey a message from the President relating to the nomination of a representative of the Parliamentary service commission to the Salaries and remuneration commission,” said Wetangula.

He added, “In this regard, the President now seeks the approval of the nominee by this House.”

The nomination is in the exercise of powers conferred on President Ruto by Article 230 (b) of the Constitution together with Article 250 (2c) and the SRC Act 211.

Melly was among 10 candidates the parliamentary commission had shortlisted for the position.

Others include; Jimmy Angwenyi, Naomi Shaban, Florence Mutua, David Were, Peter Mwathi and Abdi Muhumed Ali.

Ruth Nyaga, Judith Ojwang and Justa Wawira Mwangi also made it to the list, which had attracted over one hundred applicants.
