This comes barely a week since President Ruto returned to the country after a five-day tour to the United Kingdom, Netherlands, and Israel.

President William Ruto will on Tuesday, May 16, jet out of the country for a two-day visit to South Africa.

According to a statement by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, President Ruto will address the Third Pan African Parliamentarians Summit on Climate Policy and Equity.

“President William Ruto will this afternoon embark on a two-day visit to the Republic of South Africa to address the Third Pan African Parliamentarians Summit on Climate Policy and Equity in his capacity as the Chair of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC),” read the statement in part.

Hussein stated that the summit’s outcomes would be fed into the inaugural Africa Climate Action Summit that will be held in Nairobi from 4th to 6th September 2023.

He noted that the Nairobi summit would be instrumental in shaping Africa's stance on addressing climate change.

“The Nairobi Summit will be instrumental in shaping Africa's consolidated stance on addressing climate change, propelling the continent from a passive victim to an active participant in climate change solutions. These collective efforts will be carried forward and presented in forthcoming global forums such as the United Nations General Assembly and C0P28,” said Hussein.
