Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has announced that Embassava Sacco conductor Dennis Mageto who pushed a 17-year-old out of a moving vehicle has been apprehended.

Murkomen in a statement on Friday, May 19 stated that the conductor was arrested by officials from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and was handed over to the police.

“Following the unfortunate incident that led to the loss of the life of a passenger onboard a vehicle belonging to Embasava Sacco, the conductor who was at large has been apprehended by NTSA and handed over to the police.

“Dennis Mageto Ombichi was booked vide O.B 12/19/05/2023 at Capital Hill Police Station for the offence of Failing due care of passengers aboard a PSV Vehicle,” Murkomen tweeted.

The Transport CS also sent his condolences to the family of the 17-year-old who lost his life in the incident.

“As a Ministry, we pass our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the bereaved,” he added.

The incident happened on Wednesday, May 17 along the Outering Road after the teenager was short of Ksh 20 in bus fare, leading to an altercation with the conductor.

The conductor allegedly threw the 17-year-old out of the moving vehicle resulting in the loss of his life after he was run over by the same vehicle.

Irate passengers and onlookers torched the Embassava bus following the incident.
