According to DCI, the suspect arrested has been identified as Samuel Ndungo Waweru. 

Detectives have arrested one suspect involved in the viral robbery incident that was captured on CCTV along Ngong Road.

In a statement by DCI on Wednesday, June 14, detectives were deployed to pursue what was evidently a well-coordinated gang that targeted pedestrians on the walkways. 

"In the footage that has made rounds on social media for several days, a robber was captured violently robbing a foreigner of her sling bag & escaping on a motorcycle as a second pillion passenger.

"Intelligence-led surveillance saw the arrest of Samuel Ndungo Waweru, a member of the gang believed to have established its base around MOGAS Petrol Station along Jogoo Rd," part of the statement reads.

According to DCI, Mr. Waweru's accomplices have been identified and put on the police radar as their manhunt continues.

This comes hours after Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja disclosed that the suspects involved in the robbery had been arrested by DCI. 

“Thank you DCI_Kenya for your action. These culprits have been nabbed by the DCI who will give further details of their action. We are grateful for the continued partnership in securing our County,” said Sakaja.
