A police officer based in Kipipiri Constituency, Nyandarua county has been murdered, his foot and hand cut off in what is suspected to be a a result of love triangle.

The 59-year-old Corporal Joseph Kahungu was found in a pool of blood by officers from Turasha Police Station.

He was set to retire from service in October this year.

The body was found with multiple deep cuts on the neck and face. His right wrist had been cut completely from the hand.

His right foot had equally been cut off from the leg. Police say the officer was seen last at Turasha Police Station buying cigarettes from a shop.

Joseph Thiong'o, believed to be the prime suspect in the murder has been arrested.

His ex-wife Tabitha Wanjiru Thiong'o who is said to have been at the centre of the conflict is also in police custody to aid with the probe.

"The motive of the murder is suspected to be a love triangle. The officer was due for retirement on October 24, 2023. The scene was visited by SCPC Kipipiri, DCI Kipipiri, and OCS Turasha and processed," a police report on the incident read in part.

The body of the deceased has been preserved at JM Kariuki Hospital morgue in Ol Kalou as the probe into the incident continues.
