United Democratic Alliance Secretary General Cleophas Malalah has been cleared to attend Cabinet Meetings.

President William Ruto has cleared United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malalah to attend Cabinet Meetings.

In a communique from State House of Tuesday, June 27, President Ruto also cleared the Advisor on Women Rights Harriette Chiggai, National Security Advisor Monica Juma and the Chairperson of Council of Economic Advisors David Ndii to be attending the meetings.

The Cabinet approved the establishment of The Pending Bills Verification Committee, which will be tasked, with the auditing of liabilities for the period between 2005 and 2022.

The Committee consists of the Attorney General, the State Department of Roads, the State Department of Public Works, the State Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the Law Society of Kenya, the Institute of Engineers of Kenya and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya will also be part of it.

The committee will submit interim reports to Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u after verification.

The move by the cabinet is aimed at establishing the integrity of all bills and cushioning small enterprises against liquidity inadequacies. The committee will also propose a mechanism to stop future pending bills.

The Cabinet also approved the establishment of decentralised offices of the Attorney General and the Department of Justice in a move to ensure that people at the grassroots receive services at a minimal cost.
