"50% of jobs must be from Langata Youths ama uende ufanye event kwenu!"

Lang'ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, commonly known as Jalang'o, is up in arms with event organisers in his constituency.

In a message, he shared on his social media handles, Jalang'o sounded a warning to them saying they will host no event in the area if youths from the constituency will not be prioritised for jobs.

He did not make it clear how he intends to block those events from happening but the MP reiterated that they won't happen without  50 percent of youths from the area being part of their events.

"New Guideline, If you are Hosting an event in Lang'ata venues and you dont give our young people a chance to work at your event, that event will not happen!" He wrote

"Carnivore, Uhuru Gardens, Nyayo stadium, and any other venue in Langata! 50% of jobs must be from Langata Youths ama uende ufanye event kwenu!"

The order by MP is however illegal as no law gives a person authority to threaten a businessman or force him or her to employ people from his area.

It is a wait-and-see whether the MP will make good his threat.

Jalang'o is a first-term MP and was elected on an ODM party ticket in the 2022 General Elections.
