The Police on Thursday arrested former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and Mavoko MP Patrick Makau.

Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has dismissed reports that Azimio leaders have gone into hiding to avoid arrests over Wednesday’s chaotic protests that left at least nine people dead.

Karua in a tweet on Friday, July 14 stated that she was not on the run following the order by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.

Her statement comes after reports emerged that a number of Azimio leaders fear that the government is closing in on some of them and may arrest them.

CS Kindiki in a statement on Wednesday evening announced that security agencies had been mobilized to conduct investigations and carry out arrests on all those who were involved in the protests.

"The government has tonight (Wednesday) mobilized all the law enforcement agencies of the State and the institutions of our country’s criminal justice system to conclude investigations urgently and proceed to the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the planning and execution of the crimes committed today, including those who funded or otherwise aided or abetted the offenders," he stated.
