CS Kindiki said there was a hitch last week, stating that the government is now ready for a face-off with the opposition protesters.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has restated his resolution to quell the opposition's anti-government protests.

While acknowledging that the opposition is not meant to side with the government, Kindiki detested violence, destruction of property, and loss of lives under the guise of enjoying the constitutional right to picket.

He said the government is on alert to deal with the chaos that will arise from the demonstrations.

"My brothers in the opposition, please let's do our politics, let's put out our policies in a peaceful manner.

If you think you'll hide behind a constitutional right to destroy property, killing Kenyans and meting violence on Kenyans; try that and you will regret it," he said.

Kindiki said that the protests went on due to a hitch in the national security structure, which he swore would not happen again.

"Those whore are going test our resolve, try that monkey business on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. You will regret for a very long time," he said.

The Azimio la Umoja coalition had announced that it will hold demonstrations on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week.

In a statement on Friday, July 14, Azimio stated the decision was arrived at following requests from all sectors across the country.

“Third Wave of peaceful protests scheduled to start on Wednesday next week, and following overwhelming requests from all sectors of the Kenyan Public for the need to intensify these demonstrations, the Coalition hereby wishes to announce a revision of the calendar.

“Going forward, the peaceful protests will now be held on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week, in line with requests from the public to include three days of activity,” the statement read.
