"The sufuria movement kicks off tomorrow and continues until the battle is won."

Azimio La Umoja coalition has reiterated the planned mass demonstrations on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are still on despite the withdrawal of security detail guarding its senior leaders.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday ahead of the demos, Azimio Leadership led by Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa and Jubilee SG Jeremiah Kioni said they will not chicken out of the protests.

"This withdrawal of security completes a process that began weeks ago, with scaling down and, in some cases, removal of the security cover of several of the party’s leaders in Parliament. We are making this disclosure not because we are desperate for State protection," the Azimio coalition said.

ODM Leader Raila Odinga on Monday held a planning meeting ahead of the demos.

"We are aware that millions of Kenyans are exposed to danger every day and our lives are not in any way more precious than those of other Kenyans."

Karua, who unveiled the plan for the demos, said they will have three converging points in Nairobi including Jacaranda Grounds, Joseph Kang'ethe Grounds, and Kamukunji Grounds.

The leadership asked its supporters to turn out in large numbers and arm themselves with Sufurias as a show fo the unbearable cost of living.

Motorists who will be plying various routes in Nairobi have been asked to hoot regularly as a show of solidarity with planned demos.

"Further, at midday tomorrow, we ask Kenyans to come out of their homes and bang sufurias, pots and pans. The sufuria movement kicks off tomorrow and continues until the battle is won. At that hour of midday, we call on motorists to stop wherever they are on highways and roads, hoot and flashlights in support of this movement," Karua said in the joint statement.

Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka in his address said they are aware of the plans to sabotage the protests.

He said a group has been hired to assassinate those who will be taking part in the protests.

"We have proper, accurate and detailed information about OSU…they are heavily armed with lethal weapons and are better facilitated in logistics, communications and transportation. This is a group that last week, killed people in Mlolongo Kamukunji and Jogoo Road," he said.

ODM leader Raila Odinga was not present at the press conference as he had an engagement at the time.
