"We went to pay cash bail but we were chased from the registry," Babu Owino's PA said.

Police have disappeared with Embakasi East MP Babu Owino even before his lawyers processed his bail.

Babu Owino's Personal Assistant said he was chased away from the registry where they had gone to process his release on bail.

"We went to pay cash bail but we were chased from the registry," Babu Owino's PA said.

The events happened after Babu Owino had been released on Sh100,000 bail or an alternative bond of Sh200,000.

After his release by the court, Babu was required to proceed to the judiciary registry where he was to pay the amount and later be released from police custody.

But his lawyer says that did not happen.

"We have not been allowed to pay the bail. Someone who was within the jurisdiction of the court has been whisked away even before processing the bail. Where is the CJ Martha Koome? Why are you allowing this to happen?" Babu Owino's lawyer Ndegwa Njiru posed.

According to Njiru, Babu's other lawyer Duncun Okatch witnessed the whisking of the MP away by police.

Earlier, Babu Owino said there were plans to arrest him.

In a video recording, the MP said DCI officers had been deployed to re-arrest him immediately after his release on bail is secured.
