President William Ruto has mourned the death of Nyamira County Assembly Majority Elijah Osiemo who died in a road accident along Maai Mahiu-Naivasha road on Monday afternoon. 

The Nyamai Ward legislator was in the company of two other MCAs Duke Masira (Nyamira Township) and nominated MCA Priscilla Nyatichi.  

"We join the people of Nyamira in mourning the passing of County Majority Leader Elijah Osiemo following a road accident Monday evening," Ruto's statement read on Tuesday.

The Head of State went on to pass a quick recovery message to the MCAs who were injured.

"We pray for the quick recovery of his deputy Duke Masira and nominated MCA Priscilla Nyatichi, who are in hospital undergoing treatment."  

The two injured members of the County Assembly were rushed to Naivasha Level Four Hospital for treatment and stabilization awaiting doctors' advice 

The three were travelling to Nairobi for a meeting when the driver of the vehicle they were travelling in lost control.

The vehicle overturned into the escarpment in Mai Mahiu, Narok County.

Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo has directed the immediate transfer of the deceased body to Nairobi for preservation as burial plans commence.
