SRC Chairperson Lynne Mengich said all State Employees will receive a salary increase of between 7 to 10 percent.


The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has announced a pay increase for State employees beginning July 1, 2023.

This means that the pay will be backdated considering that the increase come after most State employees had received their July pay.

SRC Chairperson Lynne Mengich said all State Employees will receive a salary increase of between 7 to 10 percent.

"I confirm that the effective date of the review is July 1, 2023, for the year 2023/2024," Mengich said in a press conference on Wednesday.

The press conference was attended by Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung'u and his PS Chris Kiptoo.

She went on to say the increase is to enhance fairness and equity at workplaces.

Mengich said the National Treasury has allocated Sh27.1 billion for the increment

"This review is about harmonisation to achieve equity and fairness in remuneration and benefits in the public service within the principle of fiscal sustainability. The increase maintains the trajectory of achieving the wage bill-to-revenue ratio of 35 percent," Mengich said.

At the same time, Mengich dealt a blow to public servants after she announced an end to retreat and sitting allowances.

She said the payments of the two amount to double compensation. Also quashed is the taskforce allowance.
