Residents of Gatundu North are now living in fear after four men were brutally killed on Monday night.

The four were heading home at around 9 pm when they reportedly met their untimely deaths at Gacugi Village in Ngorongo, Gatundu North in Kiambu county.

The four were all hit with a blunt object on the head resulting in their deaths.

A resident who spoke to the press James Mwangi said the victims' heads were smashed with what appeared like a metal rod or an axe.

"When we viewed the bodies, we thought it is a case of a hit and run," he said.

Kiambu County police commander Perminus Kioi addressing Gachugi village residents on Tuesday said they have started a probe into the matter.

He asked residents to volunteer information that could lead to suspects' arrest.

A man who was with the victims on Monday night is said to have cheated death by a whisker. He was treated at Igegania Level Four Hospital and Discharged.

Residents said the murder could have been committed with utmost precision as there was no commotion to raise an alarm about the act.

The incident comes a month after an elderly man was murdered in the area in such a manner.

The area has become a crime hotspot for months now.

Area residents have urged the Satete to beef up security in the area. Most who spoke said they were living in fear as they don't know if they would be next.
