Osoro had claimed that Governor Simba Arati sponsored Azimio MCAs to China excluding those from Kenya Kwanza.

Kisii governor Simba Arati differed with South Mugirango member of parliament Silvanus Osoro on claims that the former is in favour of Azimio La Umoja-leaning MCAs.

Osoro, who is Arati's known political rival, claimed that the county boss sponsored trips for the MCAs to China, discriminating against those elected under the Kenya Kwanza umbrella.

"When you are working with the MCAs, please include those from Kenya Kwanza. You sponsored MCAs to China and left out those from UDA and Kenya Kwanza. We don't want these divisions, we want to work together because we are all one," said Osoro.

However, coming to his defense, Arati divulged that the MCAs missed the trip owing to personal reasons.

He further clarified that the trip was a private one and was organised by his in-laws in Beijing, but not on taxpayers' money as Osoro had implied.

The county boss is married to a Chinese named 'Kwamboka'.

According to him, he was given a total of 71 tickets which would accommodate all the MCAs irrespective of their political leanings.

He said some of the ward representatives missed the trip due to lack of travel passports, with others raising health concerns.

"I went with 50 MCAs in China. But the trip was not on taxpayers' money. My in-laws offered me tickets for 71 people. But some of them didn't have passports, and they can't use national identity cards to travel. 21 didn't travel. Others cannot put up with such long travels for health reasons," he said.

The leaders spoke during an interdenominational thanksgiving service held on Sunday, August 20, in Nyaribari Chache.

In attendance was President William Ruto and other high-ranking officials from his fold.
