Founders of the controversial cryptocurrency project Worldcoin are expected in the country next week.

A section of Kenya who underwent an iris scan in order to receive money from Worldcoin have started experiencing some changes in their bodies.

This is according to Health CS Susan Nakhumicha who told a parliamentary committee investigating Worldcoin that the exercise could have exposed thousands of Kenyans to health risks.

Kisumu Town East MP Shakeel Shabir had expressed concerns over the health risk posed by Worldcoin when the CS confirmed that indeed some were already affected.

“As indicated by Hon Shakeel Shabir, there may be Kenyans out there already experiencing different complications or changes in their bodies after underdoing the Worldcoin scan," Nakumicha said.

The Health CS implored Kenyans who underwent the scan to monitor themselves keenly and in case they observe some abnormal changes, they seek medical attention.

"We would like to urge them to report to the nearest health facilities in order to undergo an in-depth examination,” the Health CS advised.

Thousands of Kenyans underwent the scan at the KICC, Nairobi in exchange for cryptocurrency worth Sh7,000.

The exercise was however stopped after fear mounted on the data being fished out of Kenyans and health concerns.
