Martha Karua has differed with Kalonzo Musyoka on recognizing Ruto as President.

Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua has dismissed Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s remarks that the Azimio coalition now recognizes President William Ruto as the legitimate Head of State.

In an update via Twitter on Saturday, September 2, Karua stated that the remarks by Kalonzo were not true.

The Narc Kenya Party leader however did not elaborate why she differed with Kalonzo on recognizing the Ruto presidency.

Kalonzo on Saturday during a burial in Taita Taveta County congratulated President Ruto for allowing the Azimio, Kenya Kwanza negotiations to go on despite opposition by a section of leaders in his camp.

The former vice president noted that Ruto’s stand on the talks has made the opposition to recognize him as the dully-elected president and they will wait for another time.

"I must congratulate the president because he has put his foot down and said that the discussions should continue. Because of his firm stance, we recognize him and we will wait for another period. As Robert Mbui has said, who knows, we must respect God,” said Kalonzo.

The Wiper Party leader however slammed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for rubbishing the talks during his recent visit to Machakos County.

Kalonzo expressed confidence that no one can stop the talks after the Senate and National Assembly approved the formation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO).

ODM leader Raila Odinga in January this year stated that he does not recognize Ruto as the President and called for his resignation.

The opposition chief has in recent days toned down the sentiments after he agreed with Ruto to have bipartisan talks.
