At least 33 MCAs from the Meru County Assembly have vowed to support the impeachment motion against Governor Mwangaza.

Despite the simmering tension in the Meru County Assembly over the plot to impeach Governor Kawira Mwangaza, the county boss has exuded confidence that she will overcome.

The Governor on Thursday morning reacted to a cartoon depicting MCAs taking her home, in an apparent reference to planned impeachment.

"Good morning. It shall be well in Jesus Mighty Name," Mwangaza wrote on Facebook while reacting to the content.

The statement comes even as at least 33 MCAs from the Meru County Assembly have vowed to support the impeachment motion against Governor Mwangaza.

The MCAs include 20 MCAs from the Devolution Empowerment Party, 10 from the Jubilee Party and three from the NOPEU Party.

Meru County Assembly Majority Leader Evans Mawira last week faulted the Governor for the misunderstandings in the county.

“It is not our agenda to see chaos, to see drama in the county so we have decided to withdraw the support within and outside the assembly that we had given the governor,” Mawira said.

Last year the MCAs made a similar move but the governor was saved by the Senate committee that exonerated her from blame.

67 of the 69 MCAs that were present in the Meru County Assembly impeached her on December 14 on five grounds including abuse of office just 64 days after she assumed office.

Kawira pleaded not guilty to all charges.
