The changes come after Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen vowed to streamline operations at NTSA.

The National Transport and Safety Authority has announced changes in its operating hours in a move aimed at streamlining operations.

A statement by Director General George Njao on Friday indicated that the Authority will also be open to offer services on two Saturdays.

"In this regard, all NTSA Banking Halls and Offices will operate on Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 6pm," a statement by the Director General Stated.

"Additionally, NTSA offices will remain open to the public on Saturday, September 30, 2023 and Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 8am to 4pm to enable number plate collection."

Motor vehicle owners who have received SMS notifications on a collection of reflective number plates have been urged to visit the NTSA centres they identified during the application process.

The changes come after Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen vowed to streamline operations at NTSA.

The CS said he has been patient with the Authority but it has been a tall order to see changes being implemented.

"During my impromptu visit to the NTSA Inspection Centre in Likoni Road and the Headquarters in Upper Hill this afternoon. It is sad to note that over 50,000 Driving Licence applications, some dating back to September 2022, are yet to be processed," Murkomen said.

"Everything will be sorted in the next two weeks. I have been patient with the institution but I had to press the reset button. I hope the move will restore sanity. It’s not my wish to micromanage but rebooting the system is my job."

The CS stormed the NTSA offices last week and questioned why there was a backlog of several services.

He issued an order directing the office to clear all backlog of services in two weeks.
