Sources say the party is set to create three positions of deputy party leader, a position that was solely occupied by DP Gachagua.

President William Ruto is today, Friday, September 29 expected to lead the National Governing Council Meeting of the United Democratic Alliance meeting at the Bomas of Kenya.

The meeting brings together the party leader (Ruto), Deputy Party leader (DP Rigathi Gachagua), UDA elected Governors, Senators, Members of the National Assembly, MCAs and top officials of the party.

Over 2000 delegates are expected.

The meeting is the first since President William Ruto clinched power and it is set to unveil a roadmap for strengthening the party.

Under the UDA constitution, the NGC has the mandate to receive and ratify, alter or rescind any decision taken by NEC, or any other organ, or officials of the party.

Nairobi Leo has learnt that the NGC's major agenda of the day is the ratification of the  Constitutional amendments initiated by the ruling outfit.

At the heart of the amendment is the creation of three deputy party leaders posts at the party.

Ahead of the NGC, DP Rigathi Gachagua was the only Deputy Party leader.

The ratification process of the constitutional amendments will be spearheaded by EALA MP Hassan Omar who is also the Vice Chairperson of the party.

Multiple sources have intimated to Nairobi Leo that Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Chief Whip Owen Baya are set to be made the deputy party leaders.

After that, the party is going to undertake a demonstration of party grassroots elections will be conducted in December.

The party is set to elect new party officials in December.

The session will also see the National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah and his senate Counterpart Aaron Cheruiyot lead a plenary session.

They will then usher in DP Rigathi Gachagua and President Ruto to issue their closing remarks after which the party's secretary general Cleophas Malala will read the NGC resolutions.
