The deputy president said Mt Kenya would have their shareholding in government rising to 60% if they re-elect President Ruto in 2027.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua says the next assignment for the Mt Kenya electorate is to resoundingly re-elect President William Ruto in the 2027 vote.

He noted that the populous region had previously voted as a united block in previous elections except for 2022 when Azimio La Umoja made inroads to the region to win a considerable chunk of votes.

The deputy president said the split in Mt Kenya would not be witnessed in the oncoming vote, calling on the region's constituents to rally behind the government.

By turning up in their numbers to support the president, the mountaineers would have increased shareholding in the government, Gachagua said.

Conferring the leadership of the region to himself, Gachagua said he was keen on uniting the constituents.

"I will not allow under my leadership, a division between Mt Kenya East and West. The mountain is one, and it is ours and we understand it. We are going to unite in purpose as one," he said.

Sticking to his narrative that the government is akin to a shareholding limited company, the deputy president said Mt Kenya would benefit more if they stood behind Ruto.

"The president could have won in landslide of with almost 800,000 votes. It's my intention to work with everyone; youths, elders, professionals, business community, I want this region to deliver a decisive vote to Ruto so that we can increase our shareholding from 47% to 60%," he added.

He spoke on Saturday, October 7, in Meru County, where he had attended a funeral.
