"The stadium will open at 3 a.m. and it will be first come first serve." 

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that the Mashujaa Day celebrations set to take place on Friday October 20 will start early.

Speaking on Monday October 16 at Kapkatet Stadium in Kericho County, the deputy president the event will begin early to avoid unnecessary disruptions that may be caused by rain.

“I want to appeal and invite all the residents of Kericho and the neighbouring counties to come and join President William Ruto in celebrating Mashujaa Day in this county.

"We will start early because of the rain. As we have seen, this rain can disrupt us, so arrive early, get seats at the front so that you can watch what will be happening there,” said Gachagua.

The Deputy President noted that the gates will be opened at 3 am and the locals will be allowed in on the first come first serve basis.

"The stadium will open at 3 am and it will be first come first serve. The field is small, so wake up early and come there. We will have our officers to help ensure that you are given a place to sit and it will be a concert that you have never seen in this area before,” Gachagua added.

The DP also noted that several activities have been lined up during the celebrations that have never been witnessed in the area.

This is the first time Kericho County will be hosting a national event. The celebrations which will be presided over by President William Ruto will take place at Kericho Green Stadium.
