An attempt by the leaders to access where demolitions are being conducted was blocked by police.

ODM leader Raila Odinga was on Monday denied access to the site where demolitions are occurring at the East African Portland Cement Company in Athi River, Machakos.

Raila was in the company of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, Senator Edwin Sifuna, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and several other leaders who were also blocked.

An attempt by the leaders to access where demolitions are being conducted was blocked by security officers manning the area.

Police Officers deployed to block access to EAPCC land in Athi River Machakos County.

"We are here to see the civilians who have been affected. We are not here to interfere with the exercise," Raila said in an attempt to bargain their way into the scene.

Police officers at the scene are reported to have told the ODM leader that they had received orders from above not to allow him in.

A police officer captured engaging Raila at the same time said the leaders could not be allowed into the land as their presence could easily interfere with what was happening at the site.

Attempts by Kalonzo to convince the officers to allow them in fell flat.

Sifuna too tried persuading the officers but they held their ground and told the Azimio leaders that the area was out of bounds.

Demolitions at the EAPCC land entered Day five on Tuesday.

The demolition followed a court order that ruled the land in contention is a property of EAPCC.
