At least 35 MCAs from the UDA party last week appended their signatures in support of the leadership changes.

The United Democratic Alliance party has announced major leadership changes in the Nairobi County Assembly.

A letter by UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala Communicated the leadership changes in the Assembly's speaker.

While announcing the new leadership, Malala said the changes were necessitated by the resolution of the minority members of the county assembly in a meeting held on October 17, 2023.

"In the said meeting, it was resolved that the Minority Leader and the Minority Whip be removed for reasons contained in the referenced minutes," Malala stated in a letter to the speaker dated October 23, 2023.

"We enclose herewith copies of the said minutes and the signed attendance record of the Honourable members."

In the changes communicated, Nairobi South Ward MCA Waithera Chege was named Minority Leader, replacing Antony Kiragu who was ousted.
