Detectives who visited the scene said they found an aluminium wire tied around his neck.

A junior Police officer has been found dead in a suspected suicide in his house in Bulla Sagare village, Garissa County.

Constable Mohameddek Haret Elmile was discovered dead after hours of going missing.

He was attached to Mbalambala's command.

Detectives who visited the scene said they found an aluminium wire tied around his neck.

The reason that could lead to him taking his own life could not be established immediately.

The body was moved to the morgue as the probe into the matter continues. The body is also expected to undergo autopsy.

Elmile's death is the latest of several deaths that have been reported by the National Police Service. Several officers have been reported dead under various circumstances.

In October alone, at least six officers have died.

Earlier this month, an officer shot himself dead at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters in Nairobi.

His colleagues said he locked himself inside his car and shot himself in the head with his pistol in the parking lot. He died on the spot.

It was not immediately established why the police driver committed suicide.

His colleagues were alerted by the sound of the bullet from the parking lot at the operations section and on checking, they found him dead.

His body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
