"If the President was using a brain like yours, we would not be having the country now."

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday October 27 clashed with Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei over road contracts.

Speaking in the Kalenjin dialect at the funeral of Chesumei MP Paul Biego Polo's son, Cherargei objected to the contractor who won a tender to pave a road, saying he was not from the community.

"I hear that some people are saying they want to bring in people from other communities to be contractors. Give our children priority to be contractors because if we don't teach our children to be strong contractors, we will not be competitive," said Cherargei.

The Nandi senator's comments did not sit well with CS Murkomen, who said everyone was treated equally in the tendering process.

"What about our people who we have given big contracts and who owe us billions and who are in Central and Mombasa? Do you want them to be chased to come home? As your teacher, I have brains and a plan," Murkomen said.

The Transport CS went on to say that if President William Ruto had used Cherargei's brain, the country would have plunged into a crisis.

“I want to teach you something. If the President was using a brain like yours, we would not be having the country now,” CS Murkomen added.

Murkomen further slammed Cherargei for not heeding his advice to follow in President Ruto's footsteps.
