President William Ruto was in Kikuyu Township Primary to check on the start of the KCPE exams.

President William Ruto's government has announced that there will be no increase in fees for students in public High Schools.

Speaking in Kikuyu Township Primary on Monday morning when launching the start of KCPE exams across the county, Education CS Ezekiel Machogu said the fees will remain the same.

President William Ruto was at Kikuyu Township Primary where the CS was addressing the matter.

"I want to assure Kenyans that your government is not increasing fees for students when they will be joining form ones. All of them will placed in form one. There is no school fees increase, it is 53,000 for National Schools, extra county schools and Sh45,000 for county schools. It is going to remain as such," Machogu stated.

The clarification comes despite calls by school heads to increase fees owing to the rising cost of living.

School heads have proposed the amount to be increased to allow for them to raise resources to run their institutions.

He at the same time confirmed that exams have been distributed to all schools in the country as earlier planned.

1,415, 315 candidates were registered to sit for their KCPE candidates countrywide.

A total of 1,282,574 candidates are set to sit the KPSEA assessments.
