"Some friends have been misadvising him to be taxing, taxing, and taxing Kenyans until they call him Zakayo."

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has vowed to join the Kenya Kwanza Government if President William Ruto lowers the fuel cost.

Salasya who was speaking to Citizen TV said the President should lower the cost of living to make life affordable to millions of Kenya.

The MP said he would quit the Azimio La Umoja coalition if President William Ruto lowered the fuel prices from Sh22o to Sh150.

"Let him just address the cost of living and fuel and he will be the best president," he said.

"Na akitoa mafuta kutoka Sh220 na arudishe Sh150, mimi naingia Kenya Kwanza. Nitatoka Azimio."

Salasya asked the President to consider him as an advisor on the matter saying the current team of his advisors are misleading him.

"Some friends have been misadvising him to be taxing, taxing, and taxing Kenyans until they call him Zakayo."

Ruto was nicknamed akayo in reference to many new taxes his current regime has introduced.

Biblically, Zakayo was the name of a famous tax collector who was strict in ensuring people honored tax obligations.

Salasya is a member of DAP-K party under the the Azimio La Umoja Coalition.

His party leader is Former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa.
