"We have done investigations and we will expose next week."

Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has poked holes in the multi-billion government-to-government oil deal terming it a scam.

Speaking on Saturday, November 11 in Siaya County, Raila claimed that certain individuals in the government are ripping benefits from the deal while Kenyans continue to struggle with the high cost of living.

The former premier claimed that deep-rooted cartels have added an illegal Ksh 30 per liter to the price of oil.

He said that the opposition has done investigations on the oil deal and promised to release a dossier next week.

“The Kenyan government is now purchasing oil from Saudi Arabia and the government of the Emirates. That deal is a plot to exploit Kenyans, for each and every liter of oil that they are selling, they are eating 30 shillings that is to say if one litre costs Ksh 217 it should cost Ksh 187. We have done investigations and we will expose next week,” said Raila.

The ODM leader went on to say the Ugandan government stopped buying fuel from Kenya because they didn’t want to pay for Kenyan corruption.

“Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni said he will stop passing fuel through Kenya because he does not want to pay Kenyan corruption,” Raila added.

Uganda has been importing 90 percent of its fuel through Kenya and 10 percent through Tanzania.

President Museveni on Sunday, November 5 claimed middlemen working with internal parasites inflated fuel prices by up to 59 percent.

“Without my knowledge, our wonderful people were buying this huge quantity of petroleum products from middlemen in Kenya,” Museveni said in a statement on his X account.
