“We are calling upon Kenyans to join and hold hands so that we restore sanity in our nation.”

Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua now says her party is ready to resume anti-government protests if the bipartisan talks between the Azimio la Umoja coalition and Kenya Kwanza fail.

Speaking on Thursday November 15 at the NARC Kenya party headquarters in Nairobi, Karua said they will not forgo their rights, urging Kenyans to join hands with them.

“Even if we are transported to heaven through killings during demonstrations, as Narc Kenya and the people of Kenya we are saying that should the talks fail us as they look like they are failing, we shall not forgo our rights, and we shall go back to the streets if necessary, we are going to exercise our civil, political and human rights to the fullest” said Karua.

She added, “We are calling upon Kenyans to join and hold hands so that we restore sanity in our nation.”

The Azimio co-principal at the same time called on the Kenya Kwanza administration to remove the 8 percent Value Additional Tax (VAT) on petroleum products to stabilize fuel prices.

Karua’s remarks come at a time when the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) has retreated to write its final report on the bipartisan talks. The committee has until November 21, 2023 to submit its report to Raila Odinga and President William Ruto.

Addressing the media earlier, Raila said he will not call for protests until the bipartisan talks are concluded. He however said the opposition will issue a statement in case the committee fails to agree.

"We do not want to issue other conditions, we will give our statement when the committee disagrees. I do not want to give any other assurances that may seem like we are issuing threats,” said Raila.
