Mike Sonko vowed to continue supporting her throughout her education.

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko is celebrating an educational feat achieved by a girl he helped get medication.

Scandy Chelagat was diagnosed with a cancerous eye tumor in 2013 when Sonko came to her rescue.

The politician would facilitate her travel to India for specialised treatment after she got better and returned to school albeit with many medical breaks.

Sonko then took the responsibility to cater to her needs.

"She was diagnosed with an eye cancerous tumour. We flew her to India for treatment after doctors indicated that her chances of survival were very minimal. After she healed, she went back to school, and since then, I have been catering for her school fees over the years," revealed the former governor.

Scandy Chelagat scored 319 marks in the 2023 KCPE examination.

Nine years later, Scandy wrote her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in which she excelled fairly well, according to Sonko.

She scored 319 marks in the 2023 KCPE examination(s).

While celebrating the performance, Sonko said he would continue supporting her.

"Despite being out of school for long, we are celebrating her achievement after scoring 319 marks in KCPE. Congratulations, Baby Scandy Chelagat. I'm very proud of you, and I will continue supporting you until you achieve your dreams," said Sonko.
