"Murkomen should be told that our funds for the Mau Mau Road should be returned immediately, and this road should be completed."

Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has threatened to lead other Mt Kenya MPs to collect signatures and impeach Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.

Speaking on Monday, December 4, Koimburi raised concern over the delay in the completion of the Mau Mau road.

The UDA MP gave CS Murkomen an ultimatum of six months to ensure the project is funded and a contractor is in place to complete the road.

"Murkomen should be told that our funds for the Mau Mau Road should be returned immediately, and this road should be completed, and we will not wait for more than six months.

“If the contractor will not have not returned within 6 months, we will collect signatures to remove Murkomen from the ministry, and demand a CS who will ensure that our roads, including Mau Mau, in the Mt Kenya region are restored,” said Koimburi.

Kangema MP Peter Kihungi noted that their main concern is the budgeting of the project, alleging that the Kenya Kwanza government may have intentionally left it.

“Mau Mau road seems not to be the priority of the government and we promised our people, I want to tell the CS for Roads that Mau Mau road issue is now a concern to our locals,” said Kihungi.

The Mau Mau road links Murang'a, Kiambu, Nyeri, and Nyandarua counties. The 165-kilometer project was started during the administration of outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta but stalled due to lack of funds.
