Gachagua was speaking during a food distribution exercise in Garissa County.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has disclosed that President William Ruto has ordered two Cabinet Secretaries to refrain from taking more responsibilities in their ministries.

Speaking on Monday, December 4 during a food distribution exercise in Garissa County, Gachagua said President Ruto directed Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen to halt other duties and focus on repairing all roads across the country that have been damaged by the ongoing El Nino rains.

"Kipchumba Murkomen has an order from President William Ruto to refrain from any other tasks until he ensures that all the roads have been repaired across the Republic of Kenya, and that is the job he is currently engaged in,” said Gachagua.

The second in command also revealed that ASALs and Regional Development CS Peninah Malonza has been directed to focus on buying and distributing relief food to Kenyans affected by the El Nino rains.

"CS Peninah Malonza also has instructions from President Ruto to refrain from any other tasks for the time being. Her job is to purchase food and ensure that this food reaches everywhere in the Republic of Kenya, and no Kenyan will die due to hunger,” Gachagua added.

The DP also called on counties to halt development programs and allocate the funds to help Kenyans affected by the rains.

Gachagua further thanked development partners who have supported the government in addressing the El Nino flood issue.

A total of 93,432 households have so far been affected by floods with at least 120 people losing their lives.
