Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has announced that he will be reorganizing the management, command, and control of the National Police Reservists (NPR).

In a statement via his X handle on Tuesday, December 5, Kindiki said the move is aimed at supplementing the capabilities of the National Police Service (NPS) and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to tighten grip on banditry and violent crimes in the North Rift Region.

“To seal off operational gaps, we are forthwith reorganising the management, command, and control of the National Police Reservists (NPR) to supplement the capabilities of the National Police Service (NPS) and Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in the operation,” Kindiki stated.

The Interior CS at the same time said the government has stepped up the effort to rid the Country of violent bandit attacks.

“While significant strides have been made towards this end, much more needs to be done to completely neutralize the threats posed by bandits terrorising the public in Northern Rift Valley,” he stated.
