Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wah raised over Ksh100 million in a high-profile event attended by President William Ruto held on Thursday night December 7.

The money was raised during the launch of the Kikuyu Constituency Education (KICE) Foundation to help underprivileged residents access quality education.

"With the collaborative efforts of our friends and partners, over Ksh100 million was raised, a testament to our collective belief in providing opportunities for those in need. We extend heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the success of last night's event. Together, we continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many, fostering a brighter and more inclusive future for all," Ichung'wah's statement read in part.

Among those who helped the Leader of the Majority hit the milestone included President Ruto, his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot among a host of other leaders.

Speaking during the event, Ichung'wah noted that the foundation was established in 2013 to provide secondary school scholarships to bright but underprivileged children from the Kikuyu Constituency.

The lawmaker added that over 300 students will benefit from the money raised during the high-profile event.

"We are immensely grateful for the overwhelming support and generosity shown towards the KICE Foundation as we celebrated a remarkable milestone of a decade dedicated to transforming lives and nurturing dreams within our community. 

The launch of the KICE Foundation Endowment Fund marks a new chapter in our commitment to empowering the underprivileged through education, recognizing its profound role as an equalizer in society," Ichung'wah stated.
