NTSA further noted that motorists will not use the TIMS Portal to access services from January 2024.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) will shut down the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) to facilitate the transfer of all services to the eCitizen platform.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, December 13, NTSA announced that the online system would be closed from Friday, December 29, 2023 (midnight) to Monday, January 1, 2024 (midnight).

According to the safety authority, the period will allow all services to be migrated to the eCitizen platform in line with President William Ruto's administration.

"From January 2, 2024, only eCitizen login credentials shall be used to access NTSA services," the notice read in part.

Following the announced migration, NTSA instructed motorists to finalise all pending transactions on the TIMS portal by Friday, December 15, 2023

"All clients with pending transactions on the TIMS platform are therefore required to complete their Friday, December 15, 2023, to avoid any inconveniences," NTSA noted.

The authority further directed all motorists to validate their eCitizen Accounts to ensure easy accessibility. Among those instructed to validate their accounts include motor vehicle owners, financial institutions, insurance companies, motorcycle dealers, companies, embassies, missions, departments, and agencies, among other entities.

"In undertaking the validation process, the Authority requires persons assigned to transact on behalf of organisations to login to their eCitizen account and to add the specific organisations using the KRA pin number. This is a critical exercise to ensure access to all NTSA services within the platform," NTSA stated.

However, NTSA announced open sessions to sensitive motorists on the planned migration. The virtual training sessions will be conducted between December 18 to December 22.
