 The said police officer stated arguing with a barmaid over a bill.

A police officer based in Nakuru Central Police Station has been apprehended following a scuffle that led to the shooting of a barmaid. 

In a statement dated Wednesday, December 13, the said police officer stated arguing with a barmaid over a bill. The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation.

The officer then brandished his gun and shot the barmaid.

"(He) picked a quarrel with the barmaids at the said bar over bills for the drinks he had taken. In the process, a fracas ensued and the officer fatally injured the said barmaid namely Ann Maina,” the report read in part.

Three other revellers were left with serious gunshot injuries and rushed to a nearby hospital.

"The three are admitted at PGH Nakuru in serious condition. The body of the deceased is lying at Jack's mortuary in Nakuru awaiting post-mortem," the police report added.

The Nakuru County police commander stated that said officer was arrested and locked up at Kaptebwa police station. A pistol with two rounds of ammunition and six spent cartridges were recovered.

They will be processed and used as exhibits in the case.
